Shen Liang
bass
The cheerful bass of the New Zealand Chinese Orchestra, and all the sounds that are needed
Biography
Shen Liang is an electronic wind instrument player. He started learning the saxophone at the age of 15 and has been performing on stage for many years. He once took part in performances with numerous professional art troupes and various large-scale cultural and artistic events across China, gaining extensive experience in musical performance and stage work.
After moving to New Zealand, he switched to playing the electronic wind instrument to meet the band's lineup and performance requirements, mainly taking charge of the bass part in the band. Drawing on his solid saxophone training and profound understanding of music, he makes full use of the diverse tones of the electronic wind instrument in performances, delivering steady and expressive bass accompaniment for the band. Meanwhile, he keeps exploring more potential applications of modern electronic musical instruments in band performances.
## Musical Statement
Besides regular performances, I have founded a charity band. Adhering to the philosophy of "spreading warmth through music", we have long been actively engaged in public welfare activities. We regularly visit nursing homes, hospices and other community service facilities, bringing music and company to the elderly and people in need. We hope music can soothe emotions, convey care and let more people feel the warmth and beauty of life.
I believe music is not merely an art form, but also a powerful bond that connects people's hearts. In the days ahead, I will continue to carry forward traditional national culture through performances and public welfare activities, so that music can create greater value.
