The New Zealand Chinese Orchestra Library Tour Series Concludes Successfully

The 2026 first-half "Traditional Chinese Folk Music in Libraries" performance series presented by the New Zealand Chinese Orchestra has concluded successfully, marking a complete triumph of the entire event.
The series toured the local public libraries of Highland, Mount Eden and Remuera, bringing authentic traditional Chinese folk music into these havens of books. Centered on traditional musical instruments including the yangqin, erhu, guzheng and bamboo flute, the performers rendered a host of rearranged classic pieces. Melodious tunes lingered among the bookshelves, allowing citizens and readers to experience the unique charm of traditional Chinese music up close.
Every performance was fully attended with a warm and lively atmosphere. Many local residents and Chinese music lovers stopped to listen, immersing themselves in the wonderful blend of scholarly ambiance and folk music. This initiative has not only enriched the public cultural services offered by libraries, but also served as a musical bridge to facilitate the spread of Chinese culture overseas and enhance exchanges and interactions among diverse local cultures.
A person in charge of the New Zealand Chinese Orchestra stated that holding folk music performances in libraries is a rewarding effort to benefit the public with culture and popularize the arts. The orchestra will continue to organize such activities in the future, bringing traditional Chinese folk music to more communities and letting it shine brightly.
